Tap Tempo Calculator

It is a tool that measures the time between your taps (clicks or key presses) and converts the average interval into beats per minute (BPM), giving you the tempo of whatever rhythm you tapped along to.

Each time you tap, the calculator records the timestamp. It then measures the interval since your previous tap and calculates a rolling average BPM from the last several intervals, so the reading becomes more stable and accurate the longer you tap.

At least 4–8 taps give a reliable result. The very first tap only marks a starting point with no interval yet, so the BPM display appears from your second tap onward and keeps refining with each additional one.

Yes. The spacebar works exactly the same as clicking the tap button, which is often easier for keeping a steady rhythm without looking at the screen.

If you pause for more than a couple of seconds between taps, the calculator assumes you are starting a new rhythm and resets the count, so unrelated taps do not get averaged together.

It works reliably from roughly 40 to 240 BPM. Extremely fast tempos require very precise, consistent tapping, since small timing errors have a larger relative effect at short intervals.
